What is DEKA?

DEKA is a functional fitness race created by the makers of Spartan. It’s made up of 10 fitness zones (“DEKA zones”) that challenge different aspects of physical fitness—think rowing, box step-overs, weighted lunges, and more. It’s a great way to improve total-body strength and cardiovascular endurance, no matter your age or fitness level.

There are multiple formats to choose from, including DEKA STRONG (no running), DEKA MILE (with short running intervals), and DEKA FIT (with longer runs)—all of which are scalable and accessible. And now, with DEKA Kids, children ages 10–13 can experience the same excitement in a fun, age-appropriate format designed to build confidence and functional strength.

Why DEKA is Perfect for Adults

For adults, DEKA is more than just a competition—it’s a way to train with purpose. The 10 DEKA zones target mobility, endurance, strength, power, and balance, which translate into better performance in everyday life.

Whether you’re trying to get stronger for daily tasks like lifting groceries or want a measurable way to track your fitness journey, DEKA provides a structure that’s both motivating and rewarding.

Plus, the event atmosphere is electric. Competing alongside other gym members fosters community, accountability, and the thrill of accomplishing something you didn’t think you could do. You don’t have to be the fastest—you just have to show up, give it your best, and cross the finish line.

Why DEKA is Awesome for Kids

DEKA Kids is designed to get children moving, thinking, and working together—all while having fun. In a world where screen time often outweighs playtime, functional fitness provides an outlet for energy, builds physical literacy, and teaches discipline and resilience.

Our DEKA Kids training program starts June 7th and runs every Saturday, giving kids ages 10–13 a chance to learn proper form, develop strength and coordination, and build the confidence they need to tackle a DEKA race.

Most importantly, kids get to feel proud of their hard work and see the results of their effort in a race-style event that celebrates movement, not just medals.

DEKA Builds a Stronger, Healthier Family

Training and competing together can bring families closer. When kids and adults train for a common goal, it creates shared experiences, encourages mutual support, and sets a positive example of healthy living. DEKA helps kids see their parents prioritizing health, and parents get to watch their kids grow stronger—physically and mentally.

At our gym, we’ve seen firsthand how families grow stronger when they train together. DEKA events create memories that last long after race day.

Get Ready for August 23–24!

We’re thrilled to be hosting DEKA events on August 23rd and 24th, and we want YOU—and your kids—to be part of it. We’ll have adult and kids heats, so everyone can participate. This is your chance to train with purpose, compete with your community, and celebrate everything your body can do.

Spots are limited, especially for DEKA Kids, and training begins Saturday, June 7th. Don’t wait to register—our Saturday morning sessions are filling fast.
